Cloud Collaboration Governance Under Control
Tech Due Diligence for Compliance and Governance Solution Provider
On request of early-stage Venture Capital firm Capnamic, Philipps & Byrne conducted a full-scale technology and product due diligence on the startup Rencore ahead of a 4 million US$ funding round. Guiding questions for the assessment included Rencore’s product and tech roadmap, growth and scalability, and organization, as well as code and architecture. Rencore’s cornerstone product, Rencore Governance enables organizations to easily establish a comprehensive understanding of their cloud collaboration governance posture and continuously define, implement and enforce their corporate governance and compliance strategies.

- Round: 4 million US$ Series A
Why Companies Need to Get On Top of Their Cloud Compliance
Cloud services are becoming the default collaboration environment for companies of any size, but many businesses are still lacking a comprehensive and compliant governance of their cloud environment. This can easily lead to:
- High risk of data loss, costs and maintenance chaos
- Inability to scale when governing multiple cloud services manually
- Problems when cloud services are rapidly expanding and being adopted
- Enterprises struggling to stay in control of their cloud(s)
- Existing solutions reaching limits while also being too complicated, inflexible, and expensive.
This relevance is reflected in the value that is currently assigned to cloud collaboration in the market, which is expected to reach 66.92 billion dollars by 2026 - a rise of 35.14 billion dollars since 2020.
RencoreTech Due Diligence: Assessing Rencore’s Approach to Cloud Collaboration Governance
To secure their investment and get a realistic risk determination from a trusted tech advisory partner, our longstanding client Capnamic requested us to do an in-depth product and tech due diligence on Rencore, and their approach to cloud collaboration governance. This was conducted with P&B’s signature holistic assessment framework, meaning we evaluated the big picture, as well as drilling down into detail. We analyzed how business strategy and models translate into technical solutions and business processes, as well as taking a look at teams and culture. True to our conviction that tech always happens in a context, we conducted an end-to-end due diligence, ranging from leadership, product organization and management, over team and organization, to architecture, hosting and Infrastructure, as well as software delivery, quality assurance, security and privacy.
Health Check and Tech Advisory Engagement at Rencore
Two years after the initial Tech Due Diligence, Rencore reached out to us again and requested a Health Check to re-evaluate their product and tech organization. The Health Check was very solution-oriented, focusing on procedural and architectural questions.
This was followed-up by an advisory engagement, in which we supported Rencore on a strategic level. We provided concrete change management solutions, came up with an implementation plan, and supported the company in optimizing the setup of their tech team and organization. Our advisory work was mostly done in the form of workshops and on-site engagements, and the findings were delivered in concrete planning and solution documents.
