Seeing Chronic Disease Earlier
dehaze builds a foundational AI model for chronic disease detection — causal AI over large-scale patient data, so providers and insurers can intervene before conditions escalate. Before YZR Capital co-led the €3.2M seed round, PHILIPPS & BYRNE examined the science, the data foundations and the team.

The Deal
Chronic diseases are the largest cost block in healthcare. dehaze’s bet: a foundational model that learns from heterogeneous patient data to flag at-risk individuals earlier than today’s rule-based approaches. YZR Capital and DN Capital co-led the seed round, joined by Angel Invest, Zoho and Better Ventures.
A seed-stage foundational-model claim in healthcare is exactly the kind of story a DD should take seriously — and take apart carefully: is there substance behind the model, and a path through the realities of health data?
Assessment Angles
- Model approach — the causal-AI methodology behind the detection claims: how it is built, evaluated and kept honest.
- Health data foundations — access to and handling of large-scale, heterogeneous patient data — the hardest asset in this market.
- Validation posture — how model performance is measured against clinical reality.
- Compliance & security — compliance and health-data requirements as a design constraint, not an afterthought.
- Team — whether the founding team combines the ML depth and the healthcare fluency the roadmap demands.
- Roadmap credibility — does the plan the seed round finances match what a small team can actually deliver?
What the Target Takes Away
The dehaze team received a candid, engineering-level readout alongside the investor report — an outside perspective on model, data and roadmap at the stage where course corrections are cheapest.
