Soil Truth, From Orbit
Seqana quantifies soil health with satellite imagery and machine learning — monitoring, reporting and verification for the ground beneath regenerative agriculture. Before Pymwymic led the €3.2M round, PHILIPPS & BYRNE examined the models, the geodata pipelines and the science behind the product.
- Sector: ClimateTech · AI / MRV
- Target Geo: Berlin, Germany · DACH
- Client Geo: Amsterdam, Netherlands · Europe
- Deal: €3.2M round
- Assessment: 2026
The Deal
Soil carbon markets live or die on measurement you can trust. Seqana’s answer is digital MRV — monitoring, reporting and verification of soil health from satellite imagery, machine learning and ground-truth data. Pymwymic led the €3.2M round, joined by existing investors HTGF and Counteract, to extend measurement beyond carbon to broader soil health.
For a business whose product is scientific credibility, the DD question is sharp: do the models measure what the market needs them to measure — and can the platform industrialize that?
Assessment Angles
- ML models — how soil predictions are built and — crucially — validated against ground truth.
- Geodata pipelines — satellite data ingestion, processing and quality control at scale.
- Scientific defensibility — alignment with MRV standards and the verification bodies the market answers to.
- Platform & scalability — from project-based analysis toward a repeatable product.
- Team — earth-observation science plus engineering capabilities.
- Roadmap credibility — does the expansion plan match the platform’s capabilities?
What the Target Takes Away
The Seqana team received a candid, engineering-level readout alongside the investor report — an outside view on models, pipelines and roadmap.
